The Frontier is ready to push back.

On Stardate 65790.5, a 100-year old probe emerged from the Finnean Convergence Zone in the Gamma Quadrant. Most of the data it contained was corrupted, save for what remained of an emergency beacon. The message it carried was one of danger and warning, delivered by none other than Captain Harvey Geisler.

Recalled from Shore Leave in the Alpha Quadrant, Captain Geisler summons the best Starfleet has to offer and takes command of the USS Black Hawk-A. Their destination is the mysterious Finnean Convergence Zone where nothing has ever gone in, and whatever has ever emerged, has not emerged alive.

But somewhere, inside the zone, awaits both incredible opportunities for exploration, and perhaps the greatest danger the Federation has ever faced. Can the crew of the USS Black Hawk find this threat before it is too late?

Last month, I was shocked to learn that the USS Black Hawk was among 19 nominees for the 2018 Squiddie Awards, a contest sponsored by Ongoing Worlds. These awards are only given to one club, one individual, and one game each year. Given the competition, I did not believe that we had a chance of winning.

This week has been insanely crazy for me, so much so that I've spent much of it offline. During a break at work, I skimmed my email only to discover a bit of incredible news.

It is my pleasure to announce that we have won! That's right! The USS Black Hawk has been awarded with one of these coveted Squiddies for "Excellence in Role Playing.

The official announcement reads:
The USS Black Hawk of Bravo Fleet stands tall among a deep field of role plays across many genres. In 2017, it placed in the Tournament of Simulations, and within its own club, took home two Task Force Sim of the Month Awards, one Fleet Sim of the Quarter Award, and one Fleet Admiralty Unit Citation. Its writing excellence extended all year long through all missions. While the writing styles of the individual authors are quite different, they fit together extremely well to form a cohesive and compelling story. In addition, the veteran players prove very welcoming and helpful to newer ones. The Black Hawk provides a great simming excellence model for us all to follow.

I am floored and still very much speechless. I owe you all a tremendous thank you! I have simmed on many games in many genres over the years, but nothing, absolutely nothing, has compared to my time as a player or game manager with the Black Hawk. That is because of all of you. Without you, this game would be nothing more than a fleeting fantasy. You are all wonderful! Let's continue excellent storytelling together!

You can learn more about the Squiddies and the other winners in this announcement here.

Hello everyone.

On September 28, 1987, CBS made history by launching its second live-action Star Trek series called "Star Trek: The Next Generation." It represented a huge gamble, and while it was not immediately received by fans, it became the foundation modern Star Trek simming was built upon.

Last year, news of Star Trek: Discovery broke. Many were not happy that it was locked behind a paywall, and many still haven't watched it. But, as I have stated countless times in public, it was a gamble. We as Trek fans could either embrace it and convince CBS that we not just wanted more Star Trek, but we would support it, and hope that they would reward us.

I was right.

Today, at the annual Star Trek Las Vegas convention, a major announcement was made regarding the future of Star Trek, and the future of the prime universe. Rather than me tell you about it, I present to you a wonderful 12-minute video that will explain it all. Enjoy:
