Chief Medical Officer's log, stardate 64215.68

After receiving word from Yolvanda II about a potentially deadly outbreak of an unknown virus, the Captain has placed the system and any ships within it on quarantine, which means we are stuck here. But, that may be a good thing because it seems that some of the crew have come down with a similar illness.

I have contacted Yolvanda's medical personnel to get a better idea of what the symptoms are. So far, it sounds like exactly what is happening here. First, the patient presents with a sore throat that will not go away, no matter what I do. Next, they can't seem to stay awake; one cadet fell asleep standing up in the Stellar Cartography lab. After that, they're exhausted, but cannot sleep. That's as far as it's gotten here on the ship, but apparently, on Yolvanda, things have gotten much worse.

Soon after the sleeplessness comes mild hallucinations and delusions. These increase in intensity until finally, several days later, the patient just dies with no discernible cause.

The scariest part is that the body doesn't seem to even recognize this virus as a danger. No anti-bodies are present and nobody seems to have a fever. Antivirals are ineffective, as are sedatives. I'm at my wit's end trying to cope with people who can't wake up and people who can't sleep.

I just hope I figure this out before the hallucinations and delusions start. I don't know what I would do with someone who believes I'm a Klingon trying to kill them.
