Plan of Attack

Mission: Risky Business
Location: Security
Timeline: MD 01 - During Security Briefing

Joey moved into the side room after Camila requested she and Cooper get on the same page as far as their respective away missions were to go. She settled down at the small table inside and allowed Rico the luxury of laying down on the floor next to her. Hopefully, this would go well. It was extremely important that it did for both of their sakes. They'd be working in unison to see to it that both ships were disabled at the same time. It was a dirty job, and two whacked out Security officer... for different reasons... would be taking care of the tasks at hand.

Cooper entered the room and sat pulling out a small, round glass globe about the size of her hand from the duty belt she wore, "It helps me think, if its too distracting let me know..." She said and then expertly began whirling it around her hand under the table to be less distracting but it did help her focus. She called up the information on the two ships, "I thought it best to start with what we know about our enemy, unless you had another thought?" She asked, her mind working on several plans at once, discarding parts of one to add to another. As usual the pulling inward of her crazy brain actually giving her a sense of depth and focus.

"I've been doing my own research on that. We're dealing with Consortium, which is what makes the situations you and I will be going in so dangerous. The Chimera is an Intrepid class under the command of Captain Vaanika Suresh... human. The Cochrane is also an Intrepid class under the command of Captain Kylar Furell... Bajoran." Joey wasn't the least bit phased by what Cooper was doing with the glass globe. "I will be taking on the Chimera, while you take on the Cochrane. Our mission is simple enough, but it's a matter of making sure it all goes off without a hitch simultaneously. Are you with me thus far?"

Cooper nodded her understanding, "If it stands to form there will be a small core of active Consortium agents out of 300 people total between the two ships....most likely, the Command team, Security and Engineering departments have been compromised most heavily, we might have the best shot in in science or medical if there's need to rile up the crew or even if we're just looking for an on the spot ally if we get cornered but its dicy considering their 'training techniques'. She frowned briefly before continuing, "Best way to disable two ships at once...." She said almost to herself, using her free hand to call up ship schematics, "Step one get on board..." Her mind like the globe whirled as she studied the schematics. She knew that a plan had been hammered out but as she'd been occupied at the time this would be the first time hearing the whole thing, she looked forward to hearing it.

Joey looked thoughtful for a moment as she tried to figure out where she wanted to begin, then gave Cooper her complete attention once more. "Our objective is a relatively easy one. Execution is where things can get a bit tricky. We're both going over equipped with a few nifty gadgets to aid us in our mission. First thing... we're heading to the Hadyn Nebula, which will take us roughly two to three days to get there," She didn't want to get sidetracked, and planned to keep to the task at hand down to the very last detail. "Once we're in the nebula, our sensors and shields will be left non-functional. Shipboard phasers will see their effective range reduced by seventy-five percent, and navigational systems will be spotty at best, requiring the ship to utilize visual scanning. We will also be radio silent, which you know will allow us to have no contact with Black Hawk during our time aboard the other ships."

"We'll just have to trust everyone else is doing their bits as well, at least Consortium will be in the same boat with systems being unreliable. So far so standard..." she said in understanding, having some idea what they were up against. She continued to quietly twirl the globe. Another thing is it helped keep her still, a bonus when dealing with others.

"Exactly. We will each be equipped with a long range acoustical, or LRAD, device. It causes human discomfort when a sound hits 120dB, well below the LRAD's threshold. Permanent hearing loss begins at 130dB, and if the device is turned up to 140dB, anyone within its path would not only suffer hearing loss, they could potentially lose their balance and be unable to move out of the path of the audio," She said. "I'm sure you're likely wondering how we're going to be unaffected by this. That's simple really. Medical is going to fit us with something for our ears that will keep us from any damage the LRAD could cause. We are also going to be equipped with an FM transmitter in our jaw bones which will allow for sub-vocal communication, and the reason being, is because no one scans for those signals anymore. And lastly, personal transponders to get us out of there quickly."

Cooper nodded, she was glad the rough idea they worked on about the sonic attack had been fleshed out. It was a solid expansion of the old flash/bang grenade idea to incapacitate trouble makers you didn't want harmed. Just on a more massive scale, creativity at its finest. "If they're sensors are as screwed up as ours will be that should work for the transport back. To be honest if they suffer a bit of hearing damage, its not like we can't fix it down the line up to a point but I doubt it will be needed if this works as advertised. Do we know if there are any species on board who have a resistance to this?" She asked curiously as thoughts occurred.

"No, we don't. Which is why we need to get in, do our job, and get out as quickly as possible." Corwin took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Now came the interesting part. "As for our objective... we will each be beamed aboard our respective vessels. Once we're there, both of us are to find a member of their crew and render them unconscious, not killed. It doesn't matter how this is accomplished as long as it is. The second they are, we're to use their combadges and open a ship-wide link, then activate the LRAD at 140dB. We want to render them immobile without killing them. This is the best way to do that. Once they have been immobilized, both ships will be at our mercy. After the job has been done, we use the transponder chips and return back to the Black Hawk. Any questions?"

Cooper thought, trying to order her thoughts then spoke, "Is the nebula likely to affect the transporter beam? And are we concerned about their ability or lack thereof to detect our beams? Or are we hoping the nebula gives us this win?" Other thoughts occurred. Weight and size of the LRAD? Are there special handling instructions?" The words were swift but carefully spoken, her mind was working even faster but she learned throwing too much at once tended to make things take longer not save time. She had other thoughts but first she needed more data.

"I'll start with your first question. We don't know if the nebula is going to affect the transporter beam. We don't know anything, which is why this was a volunteer only mission. The danger is great for the simple fact it's going to be one versus all. As for detecting out beams, the nebula is going to knock sensors out for our ship as well as theirs, so no, they won't be detecting anything." Joey paused briefly to gather her thoughts before continuing. "Hoping the nebula helps out with giving us the win... that's the general plan. And lastly, the LRAD is three feet long and weighs approximately two kilos. Should be fairly easy to handle."

Cooper studied the readouts as Corwin spoke, so odds were high they could get on board without detection but the nebula might kill them by messing with the transporter beam either outright or putting them in the wrong place. Then of course they had to make sure they could get to single crew member before they sent any kind of alarm and open a comwide channel to set of a device before anyone could stop them hoping it got everyone. She looked at Corwin, "Well that's good I thought we were really in trouble..." She quipped in regards to Corwin's agreement about hoping the Nebula gives them the win. And she smiled, then because she wasn't one to dwell on incoming doom a she focused bit more seriously, on what she could do something about. "Seems like a solid plan what say you we spend some of this time studying what we know of the nebula see if we can't get a better idea of how its likely to affect us, continue to memorize the deck layout and senior staff of our respective vessels for any ins there, and of course making sure we are both thoroughly familiar with the device in case of any emergency field repair and I'm currently voting for saucer section deck 7 as a beam in point, near enough to things to be useful, far enough away to be gotten to easier..." She said, finally putting the globe away, making a mental note to make a gear list for herself, her mind occupied with various aspects of the plan and possibilities even as a part of her wondered how she could get her hands on a pet kitten.

Corwin listened as Cooper spoke, not missing a single thing she said. Her time as a Close Protection Officer was certainly coming in handy as far as keeping her eyes and ears open to things going on around her. Of course, it also allowed her to block certain things out, such as the globe Cooper was currently weaving and rolling around her hands. "I've already been doing my research as far as the Chimera goes as well as familiarizing myself with the Intrepid class deck listings." She leaned back in her chair. "As far as beam in points, I'm shooting for deck eleven, but you certainly don't have to follow my lead there. In fact, you should do what makes you the most comfortable. If that is deck seven, then that is where you should go. For me, deck eleven makes me the most comfortable." Now, she reigned herself in to get back to the point. "There isn't much knowledge on the Hadyn nebula aside from what I've already told you, which means there is really nothing for us to be able to study sadly. But, I agree with you about the LRAD. We should take the time to familiarize ourselves with it."

Cooper thought beaming that close to main engineering might be asking a bit much of the luck gods but she respected Corwin enough not to ask 'was she sure'. So she simply smiled in an agreement, "I'll make some coffee..." not that she could have much but it was nice sometimes. On the way back her mind already working on contingency plans, she figured Corwin would have thought of them so simply planned to mention them as they studied the LRAD just to be safe but not make a big deal. For example consoles would work for what they wanted, of course providing they weren't encrypted. It looked like they had alot of work to do and so that's what the focused on.
