The Ghost of Squeak Present

Posted on 23 Jul 2016 @ 2:10am by Ensign Kelly Khan & Lieutenant JG Daniella Blake

1,332 words; about a 7 minute read

Mission: Risky Business
Location: Varies
Timeline: MD 4 || 0130 Hours

Kelly sat in her quarters with four active holo-imagers placed around her strategically along with cords that ran from each of them to a PADD which was linked to her terminal. She wore white top which had a lace pattern around her shoulders and arms and a matching pattern by the hem, but was solid through her torso. She also wore a black skirt with triangular edges that covered her thighs and a pair of black and white Converse shoes that she had had since she was at the Academy.

She crossed her right leg under her, then brought her left leg up and over it before putting her left hand on her right knee and put her right hand out to the side to support herself. "Computer, initiate diffuse glow around subject in the holo-imagers view."

"Diffuse glow initiated," the computer responded and the view on her terminal changed and made her look ghostly.

"Perfect," Kelly squeaked as she looked at it. "Computer, record."

"Recording." The computer responded.

"Dani," she said, her voice low and soft. "Wake up, Dani." She paused a long moment.

"I am the Ghost of Squeak Present," Kelly intoned. "I am here to speak of the joys you only know in theory. Yes, Dani, I speak of the joy of the fleshly jink of the mommy-daddy dance."

"Rocco, Dani...I see the two of you together," she continued on as if Dani hadn't spoken, a smile playing on her lips. "I sense a great disturbance in the oxytocin levels within you. It must be balanced, Dani....it must be balanced..." she left her voice fade out. "Computer, stop recording, add a slight echo to vocal content and transfer to isolinear chip with an active link.

"Completed," the computer responded.

She took the chip and inserted it into a reader which she attached to the holo-emitter which she had borrowed from Operations, then linked it to the PADD. Kelly turned off the holo-imagers and gathered everything up to put in a small backpack with a tool kit carefully, then left her room.

A few paces down the corridor, she spotted an access hatch to the Jeffries Tubes which ran throughout the ship and checked both ways to make sure no one was coming. "Thank the fates that I took Engineering as my secondary at the Academy," she said as she knelt down and removed the hatch, climbed inside and closed it behind her with a tiny squeak at what she was about to do.

Kelly made her way from Room Zero Five dash Zero Nine Four through the Jeffries Tubes, pausing occasionally to make sure she was still on track until she came to Room Zero Five dash Zero One Zero. She stopped and removed her backpack and set it aside as she searched for an EPS power conduit and began to work on hooking the holo-emitter to it as well as the PADD, and the isolinear chip and reader.

Ten minutes later, she found the vent leading to Dani's bedroom and set the holo-emitter up so it could project the recording she had done. Satisfied it wouldn't fall, Kelly moved back to her room and opened the link between the reader and the projector and set her plan in motion.

Kelly got back into her original position and activated the holo imagers once more. "Computer, initiate recording and projection."

The holo-emitter projected the recording and image into the room as she had set it to do and the ghostly image of the young brunette appeared in the room near Dani's bed.

"Dani," the recording said, her voice low and soft. "Wake up, Dani." She paused a long moment.

Dani stirred around in bed when she heard her voice being called by someone, clearly disoriented from sleep. She didn’t move right away as she tried to gather her bearings and shake the haze from her mind. After a moment, the blonde lifted her head from her pillow and looked through the darkness until her eyes focused on the ‘ghost’ that was of one Cadet Senior Grade, Kelly Khan. What the hell? she wondered as she pushed herself to a sitting position. “Kelly… I don’t know what you’re doing in here, but I really cherish sleep, and you’re interrupting it. Go away.”

"I am the Ghost of Squeak Present," Kelly's ghost intoned. "I am here to speak of the joys you only know in theory. Yes, Dani, I speak of the joy of the fleshly jink of the mommy-daddy dance."

The petite woman groaned and fell back on the bed, then looked over at the chronometer. It was far too early to be dealing with this. She still had four hours before she actually needed to be awake. Oh, she was going to kill her. Slowly. “It’s too early for this right now. What do you really want?”

"Rocco, Dani...I see the two of you together," it continued on as if Dani hadn't spoken, a smile playing on her lips. "I sense a great disturbance in the oxytocin levels within you. It must be balanced, Dani....it must be balanced..."

The young brunette’s death would not only be slow, but painful, too. “It’s as balanced as it’s going to get for the foreseeable future, Oh Hazy Wonder. If you’re not getting any peaks in your own oxytocin levels, that’s not my fault. You should go torment Quinn and have that taken care of. I can’t help you.” She muttered a four letter word, then fell back onto her bed to close her eyes again.

“Dani,” Kelly said in her quarters as she activated the computer to go live. “It’s not too late, Dani. Rocco...think of Rocco,” she said. “So tall, so handsome...so yummy. He’s the one for you, Dani. Don’t deny it.”

Dani reached onto her nightstand to grab a book she’d been reading, then tossed it at the projection. “And now he knows you think so. I told him,” she said, sitting up once again to look toward the ‘ghost’ of Kelly. “Why must you torment me? Is it because you’ve got nothing better to do? Or is it because I’m just that awesome, and you feel the need to be in my presence twenty-four hours a day?”

“Your future, Dani...think of your future,” Kelly responded and raised her hands slowly and extended them towards where Dani should be. “It can only be saved by the fleshly jink of the mommy-daddy dance.” It was all she could do not to laugh and she had no doubt that Dani was going to kill her, but she didn’t plan to torment her all night.

“My future? My future is me going back to sleep, and you disappearing back to wherever it is you came from,” the blonde said, laying back on the bed for a third time. She was so tired, and now had to deal with Kelly on top of it. Where was the fairness in that? Oh… she would pay Kelly back. She didn’t know when, and she didn’t know how, but it would come to her. And, when it did, there wouldn’t be a soul alive on the ship that would be able to help the young woman. Kel wanted a war? She was damn well going to get one. “Five… four… three….”

“Jink….jink...jink...jink,” Kelly let her words echo, then stopped the link and disconnected the holo-emitter, causing her ghost to vanish. She would have to wait a while before she could go and retrieve the equipment, but for the moment, she burst out laughing and looked forward to what the future warfare would be like.
